Overview

Get The Goods was operating on Lightspeed POS alongside a growing Shopify e-commerce presence, creating fragmented systems and operational friction. Inventory mismatches, manual reconciliation, and limited flexibility made it difficult to scale. Compounding this, over 10,000 SKUs relied on existing barcode logic, making any POS migration high-risk for in-store operations and checkout reliability. Square Digital led a comprehensive migration to unify their commerce operations under a single platform.

The Challenge

Get The Goods was operating on Lightspeed POS alongside a growing Shopify e-commerce presence, creating fragmented systems and operational friction. Inventory mismatches, manual reconciliation, and limited flexibility made it difficult to scale. Compounding this, over 10,000 SKUs relied on existing barcode logic, making any POS migration high-risk for in-store operations and checkout reliability. The retailer needed a solution that could unify their in-store and online operations without disrupting daily business or compromising the accuracy of their extensive product catalog. Staff were accustomed to the Lightspeed workflows, and any migration would require comprehensive training and validation to ensure seamless adoption. The stakes were high: a failed migration could result in lost sales, frustrated customers, and operational chaos during the critical transition period.

Our Solution

Square Digital led a full migration from Lightspeed POS to Shopify POS, unifying in-store and online commerce under a single platform. We mapped and migrated over 10,000 SKUs, including all barcode data, ensuring seamless scanning and uninterrupted retail operations. Shopify was established as the single source of truth for products, inventory, and pricing, while POS workflows, staff permissions, and hardware configurations were rebuilt to support day-to-day retail use. Our team conducted extensive pre-migration testing to validate barcode accuracy across the entire catalog, identifying and resolving potential conflicts before go-live. We developed comprehensive training materials and conducted hands-on sessions with retail staff to ensure confidence with the new system. The migration was executed with a phased cutover approach, allowing for real-time validation and immediate issue resolution. Post-migration, we provided ongoing support to optimize workflows and address any operational adjustments needed as the team adapted to the unified platform.
